Mr. Manzoor Ali Memon

Mr. Manzoor Ali Memon holds MS in Communication and Policy with Merit from prestigious London School of Economics (LSE), UK. He is an officer of Information Group of 25th Common Training Program of Civil Services of Pakistan and presently working as Director General (IP) BS-20 at Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Islamabad. His distinguished career spans over 22 years with diversified working experience in administration, public policy/ diplomacy, public relations and media management with a vast exposure both at the national and international level. He has served in PID, PEMRA, ISA, Cyber Wing, DEMP, PPHI and NAB. He was also posted at an important diplomatic assignment as Press Attaché/ spokesperson to Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi.

INTRODUCTION

To ensure citizens’ freedom of expression and right to information as enshrined in the Article-19 of the Constitution of Pakistan

MISSION

To make policy intervention to empower citizens through free access to information on Government policies and initiatives

VISION

Providing a robust platform for the development of public and private sector media, and ensuring free flow of information on government policies through effective communication strategies.

FUNCTIONS AND SERVICES

  • It formulates Government’s media-related policies in consultation with all the stakeholders to keep people well-informed through dissemination of authentic information, and ensuring their right of access to information.
  • This wing engages journalists/editors/media owners/ representative bodies (PFUJ, CPNE, APNS and PBA) to address issues relating to media.
  • It coordinates not only with other ministries but also extends professional/ administrative support to public sector Broadcasting/News organizations (PTV, APP, PBC, ATV), autonomous media regulators (PCP & PEMRA) as well as to Press Information Department (PID), Directorate of Electronic Media and Publications, Information Service Academy to ensure smooth disposal of the state business.

  • AUDIT BUREAU OF CIRCULATION (ABC)

  • Audit of Newspapers/ Periodicals and issues of ABC Certificate on Net Paid Circulation (NPC)
  • Placement of the Newspapers/Periodicals in the Central Media List to receive the public sector advertisements
  • COUNCIL SECTION

  • Coordination and procurement of replies to the Parliamentary questions from the Organizations / Corporations / Bodies under administrative control of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and their submission to the respective House of the Parliament after their approval from the competent authority.
  • Work associated with the Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting of the two Houses of the Parliament, preparation of folders / briefings for the Minister / Secretary, relating to the Parliamentary Business including Rota-Days and various meetings of the Standing Committees.
  • Arrangement of Security Passes for officers / officials of the Ministry and its attached departments for smooth entry into the Parliament.
